The Action Of Purpose Trilogy

Taking A Stand Against Human Trafficking.

"We cannot simply bandage the wounds of victims beneath the wheels of injustice, we must drive a spoke into the wheel itself."
~ Dietrich Bonhoeffer
One hundred percent of the profits from every physical and digital book sold in the Action of Purpose series will go toward combating the epidemic of sex trafficking in the United States. Buy a copy of Through the Fury to the Dawn, Into the Dark of the Day, Against the Fading of the Light, or any future book in this series, and an equal contribution will be made to faith-based nonprofit organizations dedicated to stopping the sex trafficking of women and children and assisting in the recovery of those affected by this evil practice.
Sex trafficking is arguably the most evil practice in the history of mankind. Targeting children at younger and younger ages, commercial sexual exploitation is happening all over the world, and netting the perpetrators billions of dollars per year.

Traffickers employ a variety of methods to develop control over victims, including psychological manipulation, deceit, fear, threats, brutal rape, physical captivity, torture, degradation, and violence. The demographics of those who are purchasing sex span all races and ethnicities, from boys as young as teenagers to men in their 70s, and often even men who are married with children of their own. They include business owners, lawyers, doctors, politicians, police officers, career criminals, and school teachers. Victims also come from every race, nationality, and background, but the risk of exploitation is exponentially higher for those who have suffered prior abuse, come from broken homes, are racial minorities, and suffer difficult socio-economic conditions.

In short, none of our communities are immune, and we all must be a part of the solution. Two great places where you can start making an impact along the I-20 corridor - the largest sex trafficking super highway in the nation - are listed below.
The Wellhouse
Birmingham, AL.

The WellHouse is a faith-based and Christ-centered nonprofit organization offering immediate shelter and transitional housing to women who have been trafficked, are prostituting, or otherwise sexually exploited. Food, clothing, spiritual guidance, Christian counseling, and other necessities are provided, along with assisting with referrals for substance abuse treatment, if needed. Life skills classes, GED preparation, and other enrichment services are part of the experience to help these women become self-sufficient and give them a sense of self-worth. The goal is for women to go on to live full and productive lives.
Few shelters exist for sexually exploited women.

The WellHouse is the only 24-hour shelter offering immediate housing assistance to women being prostituted in the Southeast. Other shelters have entry requirements undermining a women’s access to an immediate, safe environment, such as requiring state identification, proof of homelessness, and other prerequisites, which this population of women may not have. The WellHouse does not require qualifying information. While in the program, residents receive assistance in obtaining the identification and documentation they need  to rebuild their lives.
Blanket Fort Hope
Birmingham, AL.

Blanket Fort Hope is a fortress of safety for child victims of human trafficking, forging a path of purpose and hope for our children.
Our mission is to love and care for child trafficking victims through housing, services, and long-term commitment, and to prevent children from becoming victims by educating children, and professionals who work with children, about human trafficking.

Why is Blanket Fort Hope needed?

Multiple systems and agencies are involved in this anti-trafficking response, including law enforcement, courts, and service-provider organizations. How will all of these entities be organized and begin to work as one to address the problem? BFH will help to meet this need by providing education and training to the many groups involved. We must strive to work as one team with a common goal in order to achieve the efficiency and effectiveness needed to identify trafficking situations, prosecute the perpetrators, and provide services to the victims. BFH will seek to help carry the substantial load currently shouldered by government agencies, law enforcement, and service providers.

BFH will be a solid option that provides shelter, housing, security, and services that are needed specifically for children who have experienced the trauma and abuse of human trafficking.
BFH is intentional about developing and sharing curriculums to teach children about the dangers of human trafficking with the hope of preventing them from ever being trapped.
